IGCSEs at Churchill College

In their first year at Churchill College, students prepare for examinations from the University of Cambridge International Examinations. CIE is part of the University of Cambridge and is one of the world’s leading assessment providers. Its exams are taken in over 150 different countries and are recognized by universities, colleges and employers across the globe.

Students study for five IGCSEs in Spanish, English, Mathematics, Science and Global Perspectives in preparation for study for the IB Diploma in the following two years and are assessed through coursework, projects and portfolios and in formal examinations such as practical exams, speaking and listening tests and written examinations.

These examinations take place in May and June under strict regulations and are externally assessed by Cambridge University. Grades of A to G are awarded (A being the highest mark), of which UNAM recognizes grades A to E as a pass. Students at Churchill College are expected to achieve an A to C pass in at least 4 of the 5 subjects. Failure to do so will result in their reinscription into the second year and their continuation to the IB Diploma being reconsidered.
