Bilingual Communicators

One of the main focuses in preschool is to lay the foundation for students to communicate naturally in both Spanish and English.

In nursery, we begin developing the fundamental skills for students to strengthen their native language during their preschool education. These skills provide the foundation for the sequential introduction of a second language (English) at an early age.

In pre-first, at age 6, children experience a year of English language immersion where they can express themselves confidently orally and in writing while preparing to begin primary with the best tools and skills in both English and Spanish.

In preschool, we integrate Jolly Phonics into our daily routine, a British programme for reading, writing, and speaking based on the teaching of synthetic phonics, specifically designed for young children. It is known for its fun and multisensory approach, making it appealing to preschoolers.

Some advantages of this programme include:

🙆🙆‍♂️ Multisensory learning: It stimulates different senses, such as sight, hearing, and touch. This makes learning and retaining information easier for preschool children.

Motivation and fun: The programme incorporates songs, games, and dynamic activities that make learning an enjoyable and motivating experience for children.

👂 Phonics development: Jolly Phonics focuses on teaching phonics, which helps children understand the relationship between letters and sounds, improving their reading and writing fluency.

🗣️ Natural pronunciation: By learning the sounds of letters, children improve their English pronunciation.
